I hope the California Cannabis Act DOES go before voters as a ballot initiative, and I hope it passes. Prohibitions, in the past, never work – they just don't, and the only thing it does is enrich criminals and create |more need for prisons – and then citizens wind up needing payday advances for lawyers to defend themselves in court. We should legalize marijuana completely – medical marijuana has benefits, and it's obvious that there's a demand for it – and supply will always meet demand. Not forgetting the idiotic nature of government to tell people what they may or mayn't do within the privacy of their own houses, if they aren't hurting anybody.
There are so many reasons why Cannabis should be legalized, but I fear that too many people have an old fashioned mindset regarding the plant.
Will it be legalized? Probably, largely due to the fact that the internet gives people a medium to debunk myths about the "dangers" of marijuana. Yet, people cling to these myths for dear life. They're terrified of pot. Things are changing, though.
More and more states are adopting Medical Marijuana programs, a step in the direction of legalization. Public opinion is warming to the idea of legalized pot, slowly but surely.
What are drugs legal drugs illegal drugs things from under the kitchen sink things you find in a forrest?

The drug war creates more problems then it claims it will be able to solve.
I think its a waste of time. Making it legal won't help. A lot of people who smoke also do other drugs as well. It's not like druggies make this the drug of choice, its a drug of availability.
Drug War was lost long time ago. Even drug police wants to legalize it to some extent. I'd like government to legalize marijuana and put it on same category as alcohol - do it at home but not in public or driving. Remember kids - say no to drug! ;)
There's a point there, the crime rate may go down, and the cost of keeping criminals down. Our tax money can go towards other important things such as education, healthcare, and of course our streets. It's pretty sad that nation wide our law officers are being laid off due to the cost of maintaining the law.
I agree, making "criminals" out of people who want to smoke is stupid and a waste of tax payers money. Why not just tax the crap out of marijuana and help fund education, military, roads.... hell, anything! If nothing else, medical marijuana for cancer patients, or people in pain should be much more accessible.

I am all for a lower crime rate... Maybe this would cause people to drink less, and studies show this should reduce drunk driving.
